Who are we?

We’re a digital agency founded by Chris Thurling in 1995. Jon Waring joined Chris as creative director in 2000 and now they jointly own and run the company.

We’re based in Bristol (because we love it) and we’ve grown to a team of 20 people.

How did it begin?

Rocket

Back in 2000, Jon and Chris were separately making pitches to a potential client about a new website. The client said: “We think you two should be connected. Then we’d like to work with you because we think that together you’ll make a difference.”

There’s a lesson there: always listen to your clients. Soon after that suggestion Chris and Jon met and 3Sixty came fully into being, combining Chris’s commercial thinking with Jon’s design simplicity. It’s a combination that achieves a lot.

We design and build all things digital but we go further than that because we believe you should always aim to do more online than just give information. We look at everything from the user’s viewpoint because that helps us meet our clients’ needs. Our clients then get more value from their businesses.

We specialise in two sectors – travel and finance - although we have worked more broadly. The finance and travel sectors need to create online commercial relationships that work – that enable their customers to have a better experience and to do more. We turn cost centres into profit centres; often we put it like this, because the effect of what we do is more important than the process we use to do it.

Design simplicity is vital to us, but it has to be combined with commercial thinking. Creativity needs a purpose. It’s not enough for our work to look creative, it has to be useful. The idea of useful beauty drives our work.

We listen, we explore, we research – so that we understand. Because we’ve focused on the finance and travel sectors we now have in-depth knowledge of those areas. So we go beyond responding, to anticipating. Beyond standard formulas, to a proactive partnership. Our clients enjoy working with us, and we enjoy working with them.
