As a school of thought behavioural economics (BE) is nothing new - it's been around for decades in fact.
What is new is interest in the subject outside the dusty world of academia. BE has been made accessible and relevant by books such as Nudge and Predictably Irrational and, most recently, by Rory Sutherland who made BE the focus of his two year term as President of the IPA (2009-11).
Rory setup a taskforce to investigate the subject and, here at 3Sixty, Laura, Jon and Chris got involved from the outset. In fact, since the beginning of 2010 the whole agency has been applying some of the thinking behind BE to our work. We are already seeing some positive results.
If you are curious, we have written a page that contains a little more background on behavioural economics.
We have also joined forces with some of the leading experts in the field to provide a tailored behavioural economics training course for marketers. Just get in touch with Chris Thurling or Laura Fletcher if you would like to be sent further details.

Laura, Jon and Chris have been involved with the IPA Taskforce from the outset and are the evangelists within 3Sixty. Just try to avoid getting cornered by any of them at parties!
