3Sixty on the winning team at the APG Training Network 2009
As 3Sixty’s up and coming digital account planning team, Laura and I have been making an effort to schlep up to London every Tuesday evening for the last 8 weeks in order to attend training sessions at the Account Planning Group.
We’ve had loads of fun, met lots of other promising young planners and are both quite sad that it had to come to an end. The course was designed to give insight into everything from developing great strategy, to assisting with creative work and also took a broader look at how planning is adapting to the new digital mindset. We had some really thought-provoking lectures from several of planning’s biggest thinkers including Jon Steel (WPP) of Truth, Lies and Advertising fame.
But of course the real reason for this post is completely unashamed self-appreciation for the fact that 3Sixty made it onto the winning team for the group project work which took place over the course of the 8 weeks.
The brief was to launch Best Buy, an American consumer electrical chain (http://www.bestbuy.com), who are looking to open in the UK next year. We presented our strategy and creative brief to the client as well as a member of the agency working on real life brief. The feedback was that we came up with a very simple concept which took account of the competitive market place, had genuine consumer insight and reached out beyond the obvious to take account of changing consumer needs and new media.
